SUSPECTS HANDCUFF TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT SECURITY GUARDS IN ROBBERY

As confirmed by the South African Police Service (SAPS), four men raided the government building, where the first thing they did was to handcuff the security guards.

“Four armed men forcefully entered the premises and handcuffed the security guards,” said police spokesperson Brig Selvy Mohlala.

The attackers reportedly went for the traffic department’s safe, where it was forced open to retrieve cash. They then disappeared from the scene with the money.

“They then headed to the safe, cut it open, took an undisclosed amount of cash, and fled. The matter was reported to the police and a business robbery case was opened, Mohlala added.

“Police requested anyone with information about the whereabouts of the suspects to contact Warrant Officer Shane Coetzee on 0845104761 or call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111. Alternatively, information can be passed on using MYSAPSAPP.”

MPUMALANGA BAKERY ROBBED BY EIGHT ARMED SUSPECTS

Keeping with Mpumalanga, police have launched a manhunt for a group of armed robbers that hit a bakery on Thursday night, 6 January. The suspects took the on-duty security guards by surprise and used explosives to access the safe on the premises.

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said security guards were patrolling around the Sunrise Bakery, at approximately 23:30 on Thursday, when eight armed suspects stormed in.

“The suspects then held the guards at gunpoint and robbed them of their company’s firearms and further instructed them to open the gate,” said Mohlala.

According to the police report, all of the security guards were locked in a room while the suspects broke into the bakery’s cash office and used explosives to blow the safe open. Read the full story here.
