Limpopo elderly woman found BRUTALLY murdered

The elderly woman was found with multiple serious injuries inside her house, it is believed she was stabbed with a sharp object.

Police have launched a manhunt for the killer or killers responsible for the brutal murder of an elderly woman in Kuranta village, in Limpopo.

Maidi Puledi Malefofane aged 85, was found killed in her house on Tuesday.

POLICE HUNTING DOWN ELDERLY WOMAN’S ASSAILANT(S)

Limpopo Provincial Commissioner of Police, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered a manhunt for the suspect(s) responsible for the murder of Malefofane. 

The Police received information about a murder incident that occurred in Kuranta village.

When they arrived at the scene they found the deceased, elderly woman with multiple serious injuries inside the house. 

“It appeared the assailant(s) used a sharp object to murder the victim. Emergency services were called and the elderly woman was certified dead on the scene,”

said police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo.

He added that the District Commissioner, Major General Willie Mashava has been directed to lead the team that has already started hunting down the killer(s). 

The motive for the murder will be determined by the unfolding investigations.

Community members are called to assist the police by providing valuable information that can lead to the arrest of the criminal(s).

SIX PEOPLE ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH WOMAN’S MURDER

Meanwhile, earlier this week, six people were arrested for the murder of a woman which took place in March 2022 in Tzaneen, 

Lieutenant General Hadebe has commended the police in Tzaneen for arresting six suspects aged between 22 and 44 following the meticulous investigations conducted into the murder of a woman who was killed in March 2022.

“A group of people were reportedly socializing at a house in Morutji village in the Tzaneen policing area on 1 March 2022 when one of the men allegedly shot the victim. 

“She was taken to hospital where she died on arrival. The suspect had been on the run since the incident. The woman was identified as Kgaogelo Maake, aged 23, from Mamotintane village in Mankweng,”

explained Mojapelo.

A team of investigators was assembled to probe the murder. Members of the Tzaneen Tracing Team (TTT) received the information on the whereabouts of the suspect who turned out to be the local musician. 

The information led the police to a location at Mohlakamosoma village in the Bolobedu policing area where the suspect was found hiding at his aunt’s place. He was immediately apprehended.

A further probe led to the arrest of two women and a man believed to be the suspect’s wife, brother-in-law and aunt. 

The three were arrested for defeating the end of justice after they allegedly took the suspect’s firearm and concealed it at Relela village in the Tzaneen.

“The team went on to arrest two more suspects who are said to be the companions of the arrested artist and recovered two firearms with serial numbers also filed off. The two have been charged with possession of illegal firearms and ammunition,”

said Mojapelo.

The firearms that have been recovered will be subjected to ballistic investigations to determine if they were previously used in the commission of other crimes.

The suspects appeared in the Tzaneen Magistrates’ Court.
