TWO SANGOMAS DROWN IN RIVER DURING RITUAL

A flooding river is deadly. Unfortunately, two sangomas underestimated the danger before drowning in the Umlazi River in Hammarsdale.

According to the report, the bodies of Bongumusa Magubane (29) and Nkosinathi Zwane (31), from Georgedale in Mpumalanga were found on Monday after they were last seen in December with a leader.

The deceased duo were accompanied by a third man who managed to survive and tell the tale.

According to the report, the two sangomas who drowned to death were also members of the Nazareth Baptist Church (Shembe). They had gone to the river to “improve prophetic powers” (isithunywa). Sadly, things did not go smoothly at all.
