Onlookers have blamed potholes to have been the primary cause of the burst tyre on the vehicle that was transporting MEC Nkonyeni

Following the accident involving MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Neliswa Peggy Nkonyeni, some individuals have blamed potholes as a result.
According to the KZN Provincial Government, Nkonyeni was headed to the Dannhauser Local Municipality after concluding a fruitful meeting in uLundi, north of the province, with Premier of KZN Sihle Zikalala and His Majesty the King Misuzulu kaZwelithini.
Photographs of the wrecked vehicle transporting MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Neliswa Peggy Nkonyeni and her close protectors emerged shortly after.
A black BMW in a non-repairable condition (pictured) is reported to be the vehicle that almost killed MEC Nkonyeni and her bodyguards earlier today, Tuesday, 21 June.
The accident happened along the R66 when a tyre burst on the vehicle.

The vehicle seems to have overturned before coming to a standstill.
Zikalala, who assured the people of the province that MEC and her protectors were receiving the best medical treatment, said she was undergoing complete medical evaluation.
“She is fully conscious and alert with the Premier and the Director-General by her side at the hospital,” the statement updated.
SCARY POTHOLES IN KZN BLAMED FOR THE ACCIDENT
The poor condition of roads in KwaZulu-Natal has led many onlookers to believe this to be the primary cause for the tyre to burst.
Some comments on Facebook suggested the KZN government to catch a wake up call and invest in the quality of its road in order to avoid accidents.
Mkheshane Senzo Shangase said, “Speedy recovery [MEC]… This shows how unsafe our roads are”.
Nathi Nala said: “Instead of fixing roads you are busy issuing statements that are not life-threatening like death trap R66”.
Sibusiso Nhlozi said, “A speedy recovery to all involved and we hope that the potholes have sent a clear message and that they will be attended to”.
