UPDATED: SASSA Social Grants payment dates for 2022 until March 2023
Social grants will now be paid from the second day of every month – if possible. SASSA has amended its payment calendar accordingly.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) announced that social grants would be paid from the second day of the month, on Tuesday, 22 March, from April 2022 onwards.
The official payment date calendar has been revised and published on the agency’s website.

As previously reported, SASSA said it heard beneficiaries’ complaints about the previous payment schedule and decided to make a change.
“If the second day of the month falls on a weekend or public holiday, the payment will take place on the following work day,” said the agency.
“We would like to thank all of you for your cooperation and support during the challenging times we have experienced.’
Grants payments will now start earlier but they will continue in the same order. Older person and the associated grants will be paid first followed by disability grants and child grants.
In the past, the first week of the month was reserved for the aforementioned grants before the SASSA started paying out the COVID-19 social relief of distress (SRD) R350 grant for the month.
It is unclear whether the R350 grants will also be paid earlier from April onwards. The South African will publish that information as soon as it is made available.
