SASSA GRANTS TO BE PAID FROM 2nd OF THE MONTH

SASSA said it heard beneficiaries “cry about the social grant payment dates each month” and decided to make a change.

Describing itself as a “listening organisation” the Agency said social grants would be paid from the second day of the month from now on.

“If the second day of the month falls on a weekend or public holiday, the payment will take place on the following work day,” said the agency.

This means that the first social grant payments will be made on Monday, 4 April. As per usual, the Older persons and associated grants will be paid first, followed by the disability grants on the 5th and child grants on the 6th.

Usually, the first week of the month is reserved for the aforementioned grant payments. SASSA has not made it clear if the change in schedule will affect the COVID-19 social relief of distress (SRD) R350 grant payments.

“We would like to thank all of you for your cooperation and support during the challenging times we have experienced,” said the agency.
