A video is circulating of a group of prisoners at the Boksburg Correctional Centre who became unruly, retaliated against a mandatory search operation, and barricaded a sectional gate to hide their illegal cellphones.

In other news, robbers were caught in Hillbrow after video footage was circulated on social media of a gang stranging and robbing unsuspecting victims. 

On Tuesday, an off-duty #Project10K new Constable got to a flying start with a debut arrest. 

Several hikers were airlifted in separate events on Monday, 2 January 2023. This includes a 2-year-old who was airlifted from a beach.

And lastly, two children were airlifted after a near-drowning incident in Randburg on Tuesday.

Watch: Video of Boksburg prisoners retaliate against search operation for cellphones

A video is circulating of a group of prisoners at the Boksburg Correctional Centre who became unruly and retaliated against a mandatory search operation and barricaded a sectional gate in a bid to hide their illegal cellphones on Monday, 2 January 2023.

Singabakho Nxumalo, Spokesperson Department of Correctional Services (DCS), says this was in retaliation to a mandatory searching operation by the DCS National Task Team as part of its Festive Season Security Operation.

Hillbrow robbers CAUGHT in the act by undercover unit

After being seen on video strangling and robbing members of the public, a gang of robbers in Hillbrow was caught in the act on 1 January 2023.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) commended the IIOC Undercover Reaction Unit for its swift response.

They responded to a complaint after videos of criminals strangling and robbing unsuspecting victims on Twist Street and Peterson Street in Hillbrow circulated on social media.

Off-duty New Constable busts SASSA fraudsters in Durban

An off-duty #Project10K new Constable got to a flying start when she effected her debut arrest on Tuesday, 03 January 2023 by arresting suspected SASSA fraudsters.

According to the police, the vigilant officer was at the Mangrove Centre in North Beach, Durban when she spotted three suspicious-looking women who were withdrawing money at the ATM.

“The young officer requested back-up from the Metro Police officers who were in the vicinity and tactically approached the suspects.”

Several hikers airlifted in separate incidents – including a 2-year-old

Several hikers were airlifted in separate events on Monday, 2 January 2023, this includes a 2-year-old who was airlifted from a beach.

It was a busy day for the Western Cape Department of Health EMS/AMS rescue helicopter.

The helicopter was dispatched to Platteklip Gorge for the first rescue to airlift a hiker who had collapsed while hiking.

Two small children AIRLIFTED after near-drowning in Randburg

Two children were airlifted after a near-drowning incident in Randburg on Tuesday, 3 January 2023.

Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to a residential premises in the Randburg area at approximately 15:20 for reports of a drowning.

Two young boys, a three-year-old and an 18-month-old, were discovered in critical condition after being submerged in the family swimming pool.
