It has been 14 years since Morne Harmse walked into his school and committed a horrific crime. Using a samurai sword, the 18-year-old killed a classmate and injured three others. Morne Harmse, dubbed the ‘Samurai Killer’ has been released from prison on parole almost 14 years after his arrest.

Thousands of South Africans have been left scrambling to rearrange their travel plans after Comair – the operator of Kulula and British Airways flights in Mzansi – had all their planes grounded in each respective fleet. This comes after major incidents onboard three flights raised concerns for the Civil Aviation Authority – leading to the grounding of all Comair planes.

In other news, seven other Gauteng hospitals allegedly also suffer from inadequate food arrangements due to expired contracts and poor financial management.

In a ruling that will likely spark furore, the Equality Court has found that the controversial TRESemmé shampoo advertisement, did not unfairly discriminate against black women.

The ad for the hair product, which was on the retailer Clicks’ website, labelled African hair as “frizzy and dull”, while White hair was considered normal, “fine and flat,” prompting a wave of backlash, including calls for a boycott of both the product and retailer.

Krugersdorp’s ‘Samurai Killer’ Morne Harmse released on parole

It has been 14 years since Morne Harmse walked into his school and committed a horrific crime. The then 18-year-old killed a classmate and injured three others, using a samurai sword.

Despite psychological assessments that found Harmse to be a danger to society, he has been released on parole. Jacques Pretorius was just 16 years old when Harmse slashed his neck, killing him instantly.

According to eNCA, family spokesperson Leonie Pretorius stated that Harmse has shown no remorse for his actions.

“Even at the parole hearing. There’s just no emotions. He just doesn’t care.”

Comair latest: Kulula, BA planes grounded due to these THREE flight scares

Thousands of South Africans have been left scrambling to rearrange their travel plans, after Comair – the operator of Kulula and British Airways flights in Mzansi – had all their planes grounded in each respective fleet.

Safety concerns have been raised by the South African Civil Aviation Authority, after a string of flights encountered technical difficulties in the past few weeks. Leaving nothing to chance, the incidents forced SACAA into a monumental decision – and they acted to prevent any potential mid-air catastrophes.

Luvuyo Silandela, the senior legal and compliance manager for SACAA, told CapeTalk that the Authority identified ‘at least three Comair flights’ that posed a significant risk to those on board.

TRESemmé hair ad NOT racist, rules Equality Court

In a ruling that will likely spark furore, the Equality Court has found that the controversial TRESemmé shampoo advertisement, did not unfairly discriminate against black women.

The ad for the hair product, which was on the retailer Clicks’ website, labelled African hair as “frizzy and dull”, while White hair was considered normal, “fine and flat,” prompting a wave of backlash, including calls for a boycott of both the product and retailer.

Clicks subsequently blamed a junior employee and opted to suspend them along with other staffers who worked on the project. The company said it would be prioritising transformation.

Food supply problems reported at SEVEN other Gauteng state hospitals

How can this be? Food supply problems have been reported at SEVEN other Gauteng state hospitals. 

According to DA provincial shadow health MEC Jack Bloom, These Gauteng state hospitals suffer from inadequate food arrangements due to expired contracts and poor financial management.

This comes after Doctors and nurses revealed last week that they were taking food to starving patients at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital after the hospital allegedly failed to pay suppliers.

The Gauteng Health Department hit back, saying their facilities have not run out of food supply, contrary to inaccurate reports on this matter.

Marikana: 15 men accused of various unlawful activities in court

A case put against 15 men in 2012 is at the North West High Court. Some of the men are being charged with the murder of ten people. The incident occurred during the Marikana Mine strike in Lonmin.

The men are expected to appear at the Mogwase-based court on Monday, 14 March. This follows an application filed with the North Gauteng High Court to have the charges placed against them withdrawn.

The men are facing charges of malicious damage to property, robbery, unlawful possession of firearms and murder. According to SABC News, the murder charges are related to the killing of ten people.
