Truecaller will soon integrate it’s services into WhatsApp

Truecaller will soon integrate its caller identification services into WhatsApp and other messaging apps to help users spot spam calls on such platforms.

According to a Reuters report, the integration with these messaging apps will help in identifying spam calls and reduce spam messages.

Reports show that spam calls have been on the rise in recent years, with a 2021 report from Truecaller revealing that users in India get approximately 17 spam calls a month on average.

Big changes may be coming for SA school holiday calendar

There may be changes in the horizon for school holidays as the Department of Basic Education published proposed changes to the National Policy for Determining School Calendars for Public Schools in South Africa for public comment.

The changes are being suggested as a result of the past three years of disruptions to the school calendar due to Covid-19. This will, in turn, give the minister of education and the Department of Basic Education more flexibility at the start and end of school terms. This will also apply to changes to the different terms for coastal and inland schools.

A Gauteng mother was stunned when it was revealed that her 4-year-old boy’s ‘toothache’ turned out to be a golf ball-sized tumor.

When four-year-old healthy and happy Marlo Goosen complained about toothache and earache at the beginning of the year, his mother, Marinet, took him to the doctor.

More than 100 000 learners dropped out of schools in Gauteng

Gauteng’s Basic Education Department has confirmed that over 100 000 learners are no longer on its system.

ALSO READ: WCED: Parents urged to submit applications for Grades 1 and 8

The department says this cannot be entirely attributed to school dropouts as there could be more factors into the issue.

This followed a call by the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the province for the department to probe what happened to these learners.
