National Shutdown: Ramaphosa has deployed 3,474 SANDF members

President Cyril Ramaphosa has deployed 3,474 SANDF members countrywide ahead of the planned National Shutdown.

These soldiers will be working with SAPS to prevent crime and preserve law and order.

Deployment is set to cost over R166m and will be in place until 17 April 2023.

National Shutdown: Watch EFF warn police not to provoke them

Omphile Maotwe, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Treasurer-General, warns police not to provoke them during the national shutdown on Monday, 20 March.

“We see that Ramaphosa wants to turn this state into a dictatorship by unleashing the army, unleashing the police on a peaceful protest. We won’t allow that,” she said in an interview with Newzroom Afrika.

JUST IN: Security officer injured by protesters in Durban

A security officer was injured when protesters threw a brick at his vehicle in Durban on Sunday evening.

According to Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said, at approximately 20h00 on Sunday night Emer-G-Med paramedics, together with Netcare911, responded to the N2 M1 in the Durban south area.

“On arrival on the scene, a male security officer was found to have sustained a fractured arm when a brick was thrown at his patrol vehicle by protesters in the Link Road area.”

BREAKING NEWS: Bosasa liquidator, Cloete Murray has DIED

Bosasa liquidator Cloete Murray, has died in hospital after sustaining critical injuries during an apparent hit on the N1 in Midrand yesterday afternoon, 18 March, anti-crime activist, Yusuf Abramjee confirmed.

It has been confirmed that Murray died in hospital after an apparent hit that took the life of his son yesterday.

Emergency services rushed Murray to the hospital after the targeted attack.

German couple BRUTALLY attacked and assaulted in Addo guesthouse

Police said a German couple was BRUTALLY attacked and assaulted by four armed men in their room at a guest house in Addo in the Eastern Cape on Saturday.

The attack happened at around 00:45 on Saturday.

According to police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu, the couple was awakened by the four armed men while they were sleeping.

“Four suspects armed with unknown objects forced themselves into the room and threatened the couple. The 67-year-old male sustained open wounds on the head as he tried to close the door.”
