The first snowfall for 2022 is expected in parts of South Africa this weekend as a cold front is making its way inland.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) said possible snowfall is expected over the high lying areas of Lesotho, Eastern Cape, and the Drakensberg.
It said this is due to the expected cold front.

The Eastern Cape was in the spotlight after a school principal forced a child into a pit latrine to remove a cellphone. It is estimated that it will take 55 years to eradicate unsafe sanitation in the province.
The DA’s Shadow MEC of Education, Yusuf Calim said during a recent National Council of Provinces (NCOP) oversight inspection at Lundini Primary School in the OR Tambo District, it was discovered that the school only has six pit latrines, three for girls and three for boys.

The police in Mpumalanga have launched a manhunt for a suspect who allegedly killed one man and injured two more after an early morning altercation at a tavern in Hazyview on Monday, 4 April.
South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said a scuffle broke out between four men at a tavern in Shabalala Trust, Hazyview at approximately 6:30.
“One of the men is said to have then fired some shots at the three men as well as torched two vehicles, a VW Golf and an Isuzu bakkie before he fled the scene,” said Mohlala.
