Get the blankets out! The SA Weather Service confirmed the possibility of snowfall in parts of SA this weekend due to a cold front heading our way. It said possible snowfall is expected over the high lying areas of Lesotho, Eastern Cape, and the Drakensberg. 

The Western Cape is facing an almighty battle to contain several locust swarms, as outbreaks continue to decimate crops and put the local farming industry at risk.

In some shocking revelations, learners in the Eastern Cape are forced to choose between pit latrines or snake-infested bushes to relieve themselves.

Meanwhile, Engen said the star of a viral video, which has gripped South Africa since it hit the internet on Sunday, 3 April, fled the scene when one of its truck drivers stopped to investigate. In the video, the man can be seen holding onto the back of a fuel tanker speeding down a Gauteng highway.

The police in Mpumalanga have launched a manhunt for a suspect who allegedly killed one man and injured two more after an early morning altercation at a tavern in Hazyview on Monday, 4 April.

Brrrr… Possible snowfall is expected for parts of SA this weekend

The first snowfall for 2022 is expected in parts of South Africa this weekend as a cold front is making its way inland.

 The South African Weather Service (SAWS) said possible snowfall is expected over the high lying areas of Lesotho, Eastern Cape, and the Drakensberg. 

It said this is due to the expected cold front.

Locust swarms engulf Western Cape – top ‘outbreak hot-spots’ MAPPED

The Western Cape is facing an almighty battle to contain several locust swarms, as outbreaks continue to decimate crops and put the local farming industry at risk.

Ivan Meyer, the Western Cape’s MEC for Agriculture, has confirmed that his department is now seeking a disaster declaration for the province. The regional government has already ploughed R5 million into tackling these infestations, but they are still in need of more assistance.

Eastern Cape Grade R and 1 pupils relieve themselves in snake-infested bushes

The use of pit latrines in the Eastern Cape is forcing young and vulnerable learners to resort to snake-infested bushes to relieve themselves. 

The Eastern Cape was in the spotlight after a school principal forced a child into a pit latrine to remove a cellphone. It is estimated that it will take 55 years to eradicate unsafe sanitation in the province.

The DA’s Shadow MEC of Education, Yusuf Calim said during a recent National Council of Provinces (NCOP) oversight inspection at Lundini Primary School in the OR Tambo District, it was discovered that the school only has six pit latrines, three for girls and three for boys.

In the video, the man can be seen holding onto the back of a fuel tanker speeding down a Gauteng highway. Engen said, on Tuesday, it was thankful to the members of the public who alerted the driver of the bulk fuel truck to the matter.

Tavern rampage: Man shoots three people, sets vehicles on fire

The police in Mpumalanga have launched a manhunt for a suspect who allegedly killed one man and injured two more after an early morning altercation at a tavern in Hazyview on Monday, 4 April.

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said a scuffle broke out between four men at a tavern in Shabalala Trust, Hazyview at approximately 6:30.

“One of the men is said to have then fired some shots at the three men as well as torched two vehicles, a VW Golf and an Isuzu bakkie before he fled the scene,” said Mohlala.
