A Comrades Marathon runner collapsed and eventually died during the popular 90km race at the weekend.

Another runner who took part in this weekend’s Comrades Marathon has been confirmed dead within the last few hours. Phaks Ntshiza, who represented the Adventists Running Club, lost his life after taking part in the gruelling 90km run.

A truck driver was burnt to death while five others were injured in a HORRIFIC multi-vehicle accident on the N4 on Monday.

Light SNOW expected TONIGHT in several parts of SA – in these areas

Light snowfall is expected in several areas of South Africa TONIGHT.

According to the South African Weather Service (SAWS) the snow is expected to start on Monday afternoon and continue until Tuesday morning. Light snowfall is expected in the high-lying areas in parts of the Eastern Cape, Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, as well as Lesotho from late on Monday afternoon.

Is that a METEOR? Gauteng skies illuminated by ‘stunning sight’

Well, you don’t see this every Monday night, do you? The pitch black skies over Gauteng were briefly lit-up by something totally cosmic this evening – but there remains some doubt over whether this was actually a METEOR spotted by locals on the ground.

The alleged shooting star was spotted above the province just after 19:00 on 29 August. A number of residents were able to take snaps on their phones, uploading them to social media shortly afterward. The gallery of galactic images didn’t prove conclusive, however.

Comrades Marathon runner dies after collapsing during race

A Comrades Marathon runner collapsed and eventually died during the popular 90km race at the weekend.

Hollywoodbets Athletics Club member, Mzamo Mthembu, died on Sunday while running the Comrades Marathon Route in KwaZulu-Natal.

“It is with a heavy heart to announce the passing of Hollywoodbets Athletics Club athlete Mzamo Mthembu, from the Toti branch, who was doing Comrades Marathon yesterday.”

Mthembu had complications along the marathon route and collapsed in Pinetown. He was taken to Life Westville Hospital where he died, Hollywoodsbet Athletics Club said.

Comrades claims another victim – as second runner confirmed dead

Another runner who took part in this weekend’s Comrades Marathon has been confirmed dead within the last few hours. Phaks Ntshiza, who represented the Adventists Running Club, lost his life after taking part in the gruelling 90km run.

Those tracking his progress noted that he appeared to ‘stop running’ almost halfway through the race. It was initially thought that Ntshiza had reached his limit, and caught the Comrades Bus to the finish line.

UPDATE: Truck driver burnt to death, four injured in HORRIFIC N4 accident

The N4 toll road between Nkomazi toll plaza and Malelane is closed on Monday due to a MASSIVE head-on collision between two trucks.

A truck driver was burnt to death while five others were injured in a HORRIFIC multi-vehicle accident on the N4 on Monday.

According to Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen the accident happened on the N4 national highway between Malelane and Komatipoort.
