Get those blankets out! A series of COLD fronts is expected to make landfall in parts of South Africa over the next couple of days.

According to VoxWeather, the first cold front of ???????????????????? is currently moving over the SW coast. While the cold weather is spreading light rain over the peninsula, Cape Town and coastal towns, it is quickly fizzling out.

“The second stronger cold front arrives on Friday morning to bring scattered showers and COLD conditions to the Western and Southern Cape.”

How and when to watch the Sturgeon moon in SA – the last SUPERMOON of the year

The Sturgeon moon – August’s full moon – will take the night sky this week, offering South Africans the last supermoon of the year. 

According to NASA the supermoon will appear seven degrees above the east-southeastern horizon. It will peak on Thursday night, at about 9:36 p.m. EDT (03:30 on Friday morning in South Africa); it will also appear nearly full on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. 

The Sturgeon moon may outshine another major celestial event on Thursday: the Perseids meteor shower. The most popular annual meteor shower, which is active from July to September, will peak between Friday and Saturday

Massive petrol price CUT still on the cards for September

Cash-strapped South African motorists are still expected to receive what would be a second month of ‘good news’ from soaring petrol prices in early September.

At midnight on Tuesday, 2 August, the petrol price (for both 93 and 95) dropped by R1.32 per litre, with diesel prices decreasing by between 88c and 91c per litre.

The Automobile Association (AA) has said that the outlook for petrol prices in the country is positive, with the potential for another even larger price drop in September IF the international oil price – one of the key drivers of high petrol prices – continues to decline.

An elderly couple was so SEVERLY beaten with iron bars during a BRUTAL farm attack that they both sustained serious brain injuries and skull fractures.

The elderly couple Joop (87) and Carla (85) van Reeuwyk are still fighting for their lives in the trauma intensive care unit at Millpark Hospital.

According to police spokesperson Colonel Adele Myburgh, the couple was badly injured on their farm at Mooinooi near Brits during a farm attack on Monday evening.

Johannesburg and Pretoria face 53-HOUR water outage – here’s who’s affected

Rand Water in Johannesburg and the City of Tshwane have issued a worrying alert, warning residents of a 53-hour water outage due to planned maintenance this week.

ALSO READ: Water in Birchwood Park, eThekwini is now safe for drinking

The planned shutdown is to complete a tie-in of a newly installed S4 pipeline into the existing S4 pipeline in the region, the group said.

The maintenance will take place from Thursday, 11 August at 17:00 and will continue to Saturday, 13 August at 22:00.
