Police in Klerksdorp and Jouberton are on HIGH alert ahead of the funeral of a murdered Al Qaeda gang leader. The funeral will take place on Sunday at the Jouberton community hall.

Two children have sadly died after consuming cookies laced with rat poison on the East Rand.

The family of a missing 70-year-old Cape Town man who has Alzheimer’s confirmed that his body was found on Saturday after he had been missing for ten days.

Police in Klerksdorp and Jouberton are on HIGH alert ahead of the funeral of a murdered Al Qaeda gang leader.

Videos of the total lawlessness in the streets are being shared on social media.

In the videos, a convoy of cars is seen driving down a dirt road with people out of car windows and firing random shots in the air.

Cookies laced with rat poison kill two children

Two children have sadly died after consuming cookies laced with rat poison on the East Rand.

The deceased children were among three who ate these poisonous cookies that left one minor fighting for their life in hospital.

The Station Commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, has expressed sadness at the death of the two minor children who died after they ate cookies laced with rat poison.

Body of missing man, Gus Thompson, found near Chapman’s Peak

The family of a missing 70-year-old Cape Town man who has Alzheimer’s confirmed that his body was found on Saturday after he had been missing for ten days.

The body of Gus Thompson was found near Chapman’s Peak.  According to his daughter, Alice Thompson a drone search was able to locate Gus’s body. 


“He had walked down below the picnic site on Chapman’s Peak and he was found sitting beside a stream with a view of the Atlantic. It is most likely that he succumbed to hypothermia last Thursday and died peacefully after falling asleep.”

Snowfall is expected to make landfall in parts of SA TODAY

Snowfall is expected to make landfall in parts of South Africa on Saturday.

A level 1 warning for snow was issued by the South African Weather Service (SAWS) for parts of South Africa this weekend.

The SAWS warned that the snowfall could result in icy and slippery roads, traffic disruptions, and dangerous driving conditions.

“Drivers are advised to avoid slippery roads and rather use alternative routes or postpone their traveling if possible.”

JUST IN: WHO declares Monkeypox a global health emergency

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared moneypox a global health emergency, the highest classification issued by the international organisation.

According to WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Gebreysus, just over 16 000 cases of the virus have been picked up in 75 countries, including South Africa. So far, only five people have died from Monkeypox. At least two cases were record in the country, one of them being a 42-year-old male tourist from Switzerland.

Dr Tedros said the declaration would help speed up the development of vaccines and the implementation of measures to limit the spread of the virus.
