There is finally light at the end of the proverbial load shedding tunnel for South Africans ahead of the weekend as Eskom has announced that the power cuts will be lowered to stage 1 on Friday evening, 6 May 2022 at 22:00.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a Yellow Level 2 weather warning for rain in the Western Cape on Saturday.

A South African Police Service (SAPS) Search and Rescue team found the body of Cape Town biker and businessman Wonderboy Hleza on Thursday afternoon, 5 May. He had been missing since 26 April.

BREAKING: Load shedding REDUCED to Stage 1 on Friday evening

There is finally light at the end of the proverbial load shedding tunnel for South Africans ahead of the weekend as Eskom has announced that the power cuts will be lowered to stage 1 on Friday evening, 6 May 2022 at 22:00.

Eskom re-introduced stage 2 load shedding earlier this week due to a shortage of generation capacity and breakdowns at some of its power stations.

Western Cape weather warning: Up to 45mm of rainfall expected

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a Yellow Level 2 weather warning for rain in the Western Cape on Friday, 6 May.

The weather warning comes into effect from 3:00 on Saturday, 7 May and is expected to last until 14:00.

According to the weather service, rain and showers associated with a high-pressure system moving behind a cold front will spread to the coastal areas of the Garden Route on Saturday.

Body of missing Cape Town biker Wonderboy Hleza found

A South African Police Service (SAPS) Search and Rescue team found the body of Cape Town biker and businessman Wonderboy Hleza on Thursday afternoon, 5 May. He had been missing since 26 April.

SAPS spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said Hleza’s body was found on Du Toitskloof Pass, Paarl at approximately 14:00. “An inquest docket was opened for investigation purposes,” he added.

The Brackenfell police said the 51-year-old was last seen leaving his home in Sonkring, Brackenfell on Tuesday morning, 26 April.

Elon Musk’s mom lashes out at NYT article – which criticised his ‘white privilege’

Maye Musk, mother of Elon Musk, has blasted the New York Times (NYT) to high heaven this week, after the iconic publication ran an article that claimed the billionaire benefited from his white privilege in South Africa.

The scathing piece suggested that Musk was blissfully unaware of the realities unfolding in apartheid SA, and questioned his stance on the brutal oppression of human rights in his home country. Needless to say, this article drew a major backlash after it went live on Thursday.
