Chief Justice Raymond Zondo has recommended that the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) consider pursuing charges against Tony Gupta for allegedly attempting to bribe former deputy finance minister Mcebisi Jonas.

The Presidency released the much-anticipated fourth part of the State Capture Commission’s report on Friday morning, 29 April 2022, focusing on the saga within National Treasury and Eskom.

Zondo has ripped into former mineral resources minister Mosebenzi Zwane, singling him out for failing to execute his duties in office – and even questioning why former president Jacob Zuma favoured him, despite his obvious shortcomings.

Meanwhile, South Africans have weighed in on Advocate Malesela Teffo’s and many feel that the Senzo Myiwa trial is like a never-ending movie. 

Teffo represents four of the five accused of the murder of Senzo Meyiwa. He was arrested inside the Pretoria High Court on Thursday afternoon.

In some crime news, the Mpumalanga police arrested 11 suspects for allegedly stealing chrome worth approximately R5 million from trains.

The police in the Free State are looking for the relatives of a man that was allegedly murdered in 2020. He was believed to be in his thirties and was found behind the Phakisa Hostel in Welkom by passersby.

Zwane ‘a complete failure’ – but Zuma hired him anyway, says Zondo

Chief Justice Raymond Zondo has ripped into former mineral resources minister Mosebenzi Zwane, singling him out for failing to execute his duties in office – and even questioning why former president Jacob Zuma favoured him, despite his obvious shortcomings.

Zondo released the fourth installment of the State Capture Commission’s report, which focuses on Eskom, the Estina scandal and the R1 billion housing project in the Free State.

‘It’s a movie’: SA reacts to Advocate Teffo’s arrest

South Africans have weighed in on Advocate Malesela Teffo’s and many feel that the Senzo Myiwa trial is like a never-ending movie. 

Teffo represents four of the five accused of the murder of Senzo Meyiwa. He was arrested inside the Pretoria High Court on Thursday afternoon.

Man shot in head found behind Welkom hostel – police seek next of kin

The police in the Free State are looking for the relatives of a man that was allegedly murdered in 2020. He was believed to be in his thirties and was found behind the Phakisa Hostel in Welkom by passersby.

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Sergeant Fekiswa Matoti said the deceased’s identity is unknown.

“The Police were informed about the deceased’ body and on their arrival at the scene. They met with a security officer who showed where the body was,” said Matoti in a statement on 29 April.

Woman kingpin, 10 others arrested for stealing chrome worth R5m

The Mpumalanga police arrested 11 suspects for allegedly stealing chrome worth approximately R5 million from trains on Thursday, 28 April.

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said a crack team of law enforcement agencies conducted a sting operation at 15:00 on Thursday at Self Storage offices in Witbank.

“During the operation at the facilities, a discovery of four facility rooms packed with mining chrome was made.”
