We’ve got the latest news stories and headlines in South Africa on Saturday 28 May.

Five-year-old Marno Muller is currently fighting for his life after he was found hanging from a slide at a school in Springs on Thursday morning.

According to his family, the creche said Marno was playing like normal on the slide on Thursday morning when the strings of his jacket hoodie got stuck at the top of the slide. And as Marno was sliding down, the strings got tighter, and he began suffocating halfway down the slide.

How can someone be this HEARTLESS! A toddler’s dismembered body was stuffed in a sports bag and dumped on the N1 near the Shell Ultra City petrol station.

The wheels of justice are turning in the case where an 80-year-old pensioner was brutally bludgeoned to death. A suspect is in court on Friday facing a murder charge.

Earlier on Friday, a man was shot dead inside Mugg & Bean at the Christians Village Shopping Centre in Hillcrest, outside of Durban. 

Lastly, Nhlanhla ‘Lux’ Dlamini addressed supporters outside court where he made bold statements about building outside politicians’ houses.

Five-year-old fighting for his life in ICU after a FREAK accident at school

Five-year-old Marno Muller is currently fighting for his life after he was found hanging from a slide at a school in Springs on Thursday morning.

According to his family, the creche said Marno was playing like normal on the slide on Thursday morning when the strings of his jacket hoodie got stuck at the top of the slide. And as Marno was sliding down, the strings got tighter, and he began suffocating halfway down the slide.

According to the family, the teacher thought Marno was just playing around as she could still see his feet move.

HEARTLESS! Toddler found in bag murdered, chopped up and dumped along N1

How can someone be this HEARTLESS! A toddler’s dismembered body was stuffed in a sports bag and dumped on the N1 near the Shell Ultra City petrol station.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said police found the toddler’s mutilated body in a black bag that had ‘Sport Ruixinga’ written on the side.

The toddler was wearing a blue tracksuit with white stripes and a pair of black baby’s shoes. The police also found a pink baby blanket, a towel and a blue and white sarong.

80-year-old pensioner accused of witchcraft beat to death with iron pot lid

The wheels of justice are turning in the case where an 80-year-old pensioner was brutally bludgeoned to death. A suspect is in court on Friday facing a murder charge.

Mugivhi Winston Mashamba was killed in his house at Mutsha Thondoni village under Levubu policing area in the Vhembe District of Limpopo.

Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo says the pensioner was killed on Wednesday however an arrest had already been made.

Man shot dead inside KZN Mugg & Bean restaurant

A man has been shot dead inside Mugg & Bean at the Christians Village Shopping Centre in Hillcrest, outside of Durban. 

The incident reportedly happened on Friday morning. In a brief statement Christians Village Shopping Centre said it can confirm that a man was shot dead by a customer sitting at his table at Mug n Bean this morning. 

“The suspect has been taken in by SAPS Hillcrest. Our condolences go out to the family and to the shoppers who witnessed this devastating scene. Christians Village is open for trade and the scene has been isolated.”

Nhlanhla Lux plans to build informal settlements outside politicians’ houses

Operation Dudula leader Nhlanhla ‘Lux’ Dlamini addressed supporters outside the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 27 May. Lux made a brief appearance before the court.

The Operation Dudula head faces charges of housebreaking, theft and malicious damage to property. The charges follow news that members of Operation Dudula descended on a house in Soweto suspected to be filled with drugs. This happened in March.

After appearing in court, where the case was dismissed to 27 June, Lux promised his supporters that Operation Dudula would take action in areas where the SA Government failed.
