The president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reportedly flew in a group of Russian and Asian women into the Eastern Cape during his controversial trip to the country just recently. According to Rapport, the 30 women were kept in special tents, away from the dignitaries’ partners and spouses.

Patriotic Alliance (PA) leader Gayton McKenzie has praised the white-only town Orania in the Northern Cape following his visit. 

Lastly, humanitarian workers have recovered at least 72 bodies from a village in east Democratic Republic of Congo hit by flooding on Thursday.

Load shedding for WEEK: Here’s the UPDATED schedule

Eskom said load shedding will be implemented for WEEK. Here is your updated schedule.

The power utility Stage 6 load shedding will be implemented from 16:00 this afternoon until further notice.

“Due to the failure of additional generating units of several units to return to service. Stage 6 load shedding will be implemented at 16:00 this afternoon until further notice. This is antcipated to persist throuhout the week. Eskom will publish a further update as soon as any significant changes occur.”

‘Working and thriving’: Gayton McKenzie praises Orania following his visit

Patriotic Alliance (PA) leader Gayton McKenzie has praised the white-only town Orania in the Northern Cape following his visit. 

McKenzie who visited Orania on Friday, 5 May and also spent the night said he had heard about the town from the media and on social media and he wanted to know more about the place beyond the racist tag. 

McKenzie said many, including himself, mistook Orania as something stuck in the past and that is far from it, the town is actually futuristic and it’s working hence the housing demand.

DOZENS of women flown into Mzansi to ‘entertain’ UAE president

The president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reportedly flew in a group of Russian and Asian women into the Eastern Cape during his controversial trip to the country just recently. According to Rapport, the 30 women were kept in special tents, away from the dignitaries’ partners and spouses.

The Eastern Cape government has been on the receiving end of criticism after it was learnt that the UAE president arrived with 500 guests, including other members of the royal family, to mark the end of Ramadaan. Al Nahyan’s private jet landed at the Bulembu Airport – on a R20 million runway he built with his own money. As if that wasn’t enough, Al Nahyan also forked out a whopping R320 million for the farm, where all his guests – including the women – were housed during that period.

At least 72 dead bodies recovered in flooded east Congo village

Humanitarian workers have recovered at least 72 bodies from a village in east Democratic Republic of Congo hit by flooding on Thursday.

ALSO READ: KZN marks one year since the worst floods in history [Pictures]

According to Reuters, torrential rain that fell in Congo’s South Kivu province and caused a river to overflow led to significant damage and loss of life in the villages of Bushushu and Nyamukubi.

The provincial government released a statement on Thursday without providing a death toll.
