JUST IN: Three killed, six injured in Kagiso tavern shooting

A woman is amongst the three people killed in the latest tavern shooting that happened in Kagiso in the West Rand.

Three people including a woman were allegedly shot dead in the latest tavern shooting in Kagiso, West Rand.

The incident occurred on Friday night, 7 October 2022, at about 22:30 at a liquor outlet in Soul City, Kagiso, Gauteng.

THREE KILLED IN LATEST TAVERN SHOOTING

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson, Brigadier Brenda Muridili said it is reported that a group of people gathered at a house and bought liquor.

While they were drinking and enjoying themselves, they were attacked by two balaclava clad Nguni speaking suspects who started shooting randomly outside and inside the house.

Muridili said it is not yet known how the suspects fled the scene. The motive for the shooting will form part of investigations.

Two men and one woman aged between 45 and 46 were certified dead by paramedics on the scene while six people were rushed to the local hospital for medical attention.

Gauteng Police Commissioner, Elias Mawela has mobilised maximum resources to comb the scene and to investigate the incident.

The Provincial Serious and Violence Crime unit is investigating two counts of murder and six counts of attempted murder. No one has been arrested yet. Police investigations continue.

Muridili said they are appealing to anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to contact the SAPS Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or to send tip-offs via MySAPS Application.
