With the State of the Nation Address (SONA 2023) to air at any minute, activist Nhlanhla Lux would like to hear President Cyril Ramaphosa touch on the issues affecting school placement in the country.

NHLANHLA LUX WISHES THE PRESIDENT TO ADDRESS THE SCHOOL PLACEMENT CRISIS

Lux believes that South African learners are left out of the schooling system because of inadequate placements which is being shared with foreign kids.

In an interview on SABC News, Nhlanhla Lux said it doesn’t matter where foreign children come from whether it’s neighbouring countries or Asia, South African children should be put first.

“South African children should be a priority in their country, this requires no further discussion.”

“All we are saying is that we are happy with the constitution of this country which stipulates that all kids have a right to an education but not at the expense of South African children, South African children must come first and the rest must go to others, not the other way around,” he firmly stated.

He added that this is the right thing to do to remove a foreign child in school and replace them with South Africans.

“There was an overwhelming number of children that were not placed at schools, these kids are forced to be at home, in townships and villages, even in Suburbs,” he expressed.

He said foreign kids are given priority because their parents invest in corruption and bribe schools and South Africans are left out because they don’t have money for corruption. “That is why our system needs to change because our children and the parents do not have enough means to put their kids through school with just an honest application, and this needs to be addressed,” Lux suggested.

SONA 2023 WILL BE A PROBLEM IF SA KIDS ARE NOT PRIORITISED

As Ramaphosa takes to the podium, Lux said if Ramophosa does not prioritise this matter, it’s going to be a problem.

“The bulk of his speech must be about this matter and provide a way forward on changing the policies that will favour South African children first,” he concluded.
