Sir Richard Branson got chirped by a SARS official at Mpumalanga International Airport

If you don’t follow the rules, you will probably get tuned as Sir Richard Branson learned when landing at Mpumalanga Airport recently.

Sir Richard Branson got chirpe

It doesn’t matter who you are – if you don’t follow the rules, you will get tuned. Virgin’s Sir Richard Branson was told off for failing to check in at the customs desk after he arrived at the airport on 8 November.

Apparently the airport wasn’t happy with the way in which the SARS employee spoke to Branson, tough. Reports suggest that Branson was “yelled at”.

“All I can say is that we are very disappointed with the manner in which [the official] communicated the matter to Mr Branson and his companions/crew. We will never insist that regulations… be bent to accommodate any specific individual, but if the matter was handled in a ‘Batho Pele’ manner, I am sure that there would not have been any serious complaints,” said Marius Nel, KMIA managing director.

Both the airport and SARS confirmed the incident and said that a “thorough investigation will take place and a full report will be provided next week.”
