Two siblings aged 60 and 62 allegedly hacked their young brother to death with an axe following an altercation at their home in Limpopo.

Two siblings arrested by police in Nebo outside Sekhukhune in Limpopo for allegedly hacking their younger brother to death with an axe were remanded in custody. 

The gruesome incident reportedly happened at their home in Eenkanteen Mampaha village Monday night, 9 January.  

SIBLINGS HACK THEIR BROTHER TO DEATH WITH AN AXE

According to the information at the disposal of the South African Police Service (SAPS), members received information from community members after the victim was hacked with an axe following an alleged altercation with his two brothers. 

On arrival at the scene, police found the victim’s chopped body, and the two suspects were arrested. The deceased was identified as Matshele Nelson Mogapu, aged 53.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the motive behind the incident is unknown, but police cannot rule out domestic violence.

Malesela said the two suspects, Hollo Mapadimeng, aged 60, and Seageng Mogapu, aged 62 appeared at the Nebo Magistrates Court on Wednesday and are facing a charge of murder. 

The siblings were remanded in custody until the next court appearance on Thursday, 19 January, for a formal bail application.
