If there’s one thing Makhosi Khoza knows how to do, its call people out on their bullshit: That’s exactly what the former ANC MP did on today’s Morning Live show, locking horns with party spokesman Zizi Kodwa.

The pair were engaged in a debate over her reasons for resigning from the ANC yesterday. In her press conference announcing the decision, she denounced the leading party as ‘corrupt and alien’.

Kodwa was irked by her resignation, which bypassed local authority and went straight to Secretary General Gwede Mantashe. He claims she didn’t follow proper procedure:

“There’s nobody who resigns at Luthuli House, it is not a structure. You join the ANC at a branch level. Nobody resigns with Gwede. You resign at the branch which you have joined voluntarily.”

That’s when Khoza turned sassy…

Makhosi ended up laughing at most of what Kodwa was saying, but this one really tickled her ribs. She took particular exception to his idea of having to resign at the branch, given that her current KZN branch is falling apart at the seams:

“Comrade Zizi, I’m so sorry to say it but I think you’re a pathological liar. I think you feel uncomfortable with the truth. The reason I’m saying this is because when the court nullified the PEC in KwaZulu-Natal. The branch they had established was declared null and void.”

“The only place I could tender my resignation was at national level. To whom should I have resigned? My chairperson who is out on bail? What do I do?”

Khoza’s bravery against ANC oppression

Makhosi Khoza had done her homework, whereas Kodwa was being schooled.

The former MP was the leading voice for the party in the face of mounting corruption allegations and the state capture fiasco. Although her bravery to take a stand against the Zuma regime made her life a nightmare.

Death threats were made to her, and she faced numerous disciplinaries for failing to toe the party line. However, she’s a free woman now that answers to no-one. More humiliations of state capture-complicit ANC members would go down well with us.
