TERROR: Four killed after gunmen’s shooting at cars in Gqeberha

Talk about unspeakable shooting violence in Gqeberha. Four people have been killed in Zwide after unknown gunmen sprayed a hail of bullets at two cars on Thursday.

FOUR DIE DURING MAD SHOOTING IN GQEBERHA

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) report, local officers from Kwazakhele’s station were called to the scene at around 11:00.

Two cars were found stationed in Zwide’s Johnson Street. Both the blue Suzuki and yellow Opel Kadett were riddled with bullet holes.

One of the deceased from the shooting in Gqeberha is believed to be the driver of the Opel, while the three other bodies were found grounded on the street near the cars, said SAPS’ spokesperson Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana.

“A fifth male victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds in his body and was rushed to a local hospital for medical treatment,” Kinana said.

FIREARMS FOUND AT THE SCENE

While investigations and a hunt for the suspects is starting, the cops managed to salvage two 9mm firearms at the scene.

The names of the four people killed in the shooting in Gqeberha’s Zwide are yet to be confirmed and released.

“The recovered firearms will be sent for ballistic testing. The motive for the murders is not known at this stage and all possible leads will be followed up on,” Kinana added.

Meanwhile, SAPS’ Eastern Cape Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Nomthetheleli Mene has bemoaned and condemned what she has described as a ‘culture of taking people’s lives’ in the province.

“Taking the lives of others seems to be a culture in some areas of the Eastern Cape. I am going to ensure that such a culture does not survive any longer in my province,” Mene said.

“We shall nip it in the bud wherever and whenever it manifests. It must stop now, than later and the culprits must be found,” she concluded.
