SHOCKING: Security guard handcuffed while criminals drill ATM

It is reported that the security guard in the centre was handcuffed by two suspects while they attempted to drill into the ATM safe.

A security guard in Randfontein was restricted from sending a panic activation after he was handcuffed by criminals targeting an ATM at a shopping centre.

SECURITY GUARD FOUND HANDS TIED BEHIND HIS BACK

EPR West Rand reports that on Thursday,9 March 2023, their control room received a panic alert from another security company reporting what had transpired in Randfontein.

“EPR received a phone-in alarm on behalf of another security company at an ATM in Fedler Street, Randfontein. On arrival of the EPR response unit the suspects fled the scene,” the company reported.

SUSPECTS ATTEMPT TO DRILL SAFE INSIDE THE MACHINE

“It was discovered that the security guard at the shopping centre was handcuffed by two suspects where after the suspects attempted to drill into the ATM safe but were unsuccessful,” the company reported.

“The security guard was uncuffed and the SAPS contacted.”

The name of the shopping centre was not disclosed by the security company.

ATM BOMBER TRACED AND ARRESTED

Meanwhile, a suspected ATM bomber was arrested in possession of torn banknotes in Mpumalanga in January this year (2023).
Spokesperson for the police Brigadier Selvy Mohlala reported that Ehlanzeni Crime Intelligence Task Team in collaboration with White River Canine (K9) and Tactical Response Team nabbed a big fish when a 30-year-old alleged ATM bomber was found with stacks of torn banknotes believed to be acquired through ongoing ATM bombings in the province. Meanwhile, another suspect aged 32 was nabbed for possession of unlicensed ammunition.

“Intelligence-driven information led police to the suspect’s residential place in Matsulu A just before midnight on Monday, 23 January 2023, said Brigadier Mohlala.
Mohlala said during the time when the suspect was nabbed, his house was searched and that was when the members recovered a plastic bag stuffed with a large sum of torn money.

According to information, the suspect’s arrest was a result of details which were gathered and the information convinced members that the suspect could be involved in a string of ATM bombings around Ehlanzeni District.
