It’s grim beyond belief, but police say they have uncovered a nine-year sexual abuse scandal that has rocked the Bulwer region of KZN: A father is now behind bars, after he allegedly used his daughter as a personal ‘sex slave’.

KZN ‘sex slave’ victim raises the alarm

The sickening details of this crime have been shared with police, after the victim – aged 21 – was able to get to a safe space and report her harrowing ordeal to the police. The abuse had started when she was just 12 years old, and the dad stands accused of ‘grooming the child’ for the best part of the last decade.

“On Tuesday, Bulwer police traced the man to his workplace after his daughter had opened a case. Khoza had dispatched a team of social workers to KwaMakhongwane in Bulwer to meet with the victim and her family.”

“According to the provincial department, the team of social workers spent hours speaking with the 21-year-old victim, where she revealed details of how her father had groomed her to be his sex slave”.

“After interacting with the social workers, the provincial department said the victim resolved to go to the police station to open a rape case against her father.  The victim has since been moved to a safe shelter.”

Local MEC asks for book to be thrown at alleged rapist

Officials in KZN are livid that such a crime has been allowed to happen on their patch. KwaZulu-Natal Social Development MEC, Nonhlanhla Khoza, was stinging in her condemnation. She branded the suspect as a ‘heartless danger to society’, and demanded that no bail should be offered to him:

“No child is safe if a person is able to sleep with his daughter and act as if it is normal. The call to fight social ills, sexual abuse, rape, and gender-based violence requires us to be dedicated to exposing those involved in such crimes.”

“The culprit is heartless, and a danger to society. We will follow this case to the end, as we want the court to set an example with this man. No bail should be given to such people, as they don’t deserve to stay in our communities. How does a person rape a child for nine years and pretends as if all it’s normal? It is inhumane.” | Nonhlanhla Khoza
