The trial of five men accused of the murder of former Bafana Bafana captain, Senzo Meyiwa will resume at the Pretoria High Court on Monday.

The trial was postponed last week Wednesday following the discovery of a second docket into the murder of Meyiwa which states that there is a prima facie case against Kelly Khumalo and others who were present the night Meyiwa was murdered.

RECAP OF THE SENZO MEYIWA TRIAL

Last week Wednesday, defence lawyer for accused number 5, Advocate Zandile Mshololo told the court that she needs time to peruse the contents of the second docket so that she and her client can also discuss the way forward and whether or not there is a need to cross examine State witness, Sergeant Thabo Mosia on the second docket.

Following Mshololo’s plea, there were arguments from the State and the other defence lawyer representing accused 1 to 4

In seeking postponement, Presiding Judge Tshifhiwa Maumela said both the State and defence counsel should  keep in mind that there are people in custody and that there is a family that has buried a son (Senzo Meyiwa) and wants to know what happened as well as a country that lost a remarkable individual.

“Adv Mshololo should be allowed reasonable time to peruse the docket for Vosloorus 375/01/2019 and that reasonable time will be determined by the dynamics that shall confront her as she prepares.”
