School girl bites her way out

A plucky 9-year-old schoolgirl used her wits – and her teeth – to escape a would-be kidnapper, Gauteng police confirmed on Wednesday.

They are investigating the case in which a man allegedly attempted to kidnap the pupil outside her school on Tuesday.

Constable Michael Kgatla said the man apparently approached the 9-year-old girl outside Northcliff Primary School.

“According to the information that we have received, the man gave the girl some pills to swallow, however she managed to bite his hand and [run] away.”

He said the girl was later found near Fairland in Johannesburg.

She was shaken, but unharmed, said Kgatla.

The girl’s parents reported the incident to the police and a case of kidnapping was opened.

Meanwhile, Beagle Watch Armed Response has also issued a warning on their Facebook page for parents to be wary of the would-be abductor.

Police described the man as having a thick beard and facial piercings.
