The state has pleaded with SASSA SRD grant beneficiaries to collect their unclaimed payments, and a deadline of 30 November has thus been set.

SASSA SRD GRANTS DEADLINE

While The South African reported November’s payments dates, thousands of locals are yet to collect their claims from the first cycle. The state agency has warned that unclaimed payments will be fortified.

“@OfficialSASSA Beneficiaries have until 30 November 2021 to collect their unclaimed special #Covid19 SRD Grants from the first cycle,” the announcement said.

“Payments not withdrawn by the end of the month will be forfeited to the state.”

NOVEMBER PAYMENT DATES

SASSA recently rolled out this month’s SRD grants after deciding to extend the program until March 2022.

The older persons were the first group to be paid on 3 November, followed by allowances to the disabled on 4 November. Children’s grants allowance began on Friday 5 November followed by the R350 beneficiaries.

OFFICIAL CALL FOR NEW R350 GRANTS APPLICATIONS

The government has recently said existing financial assistance beneficiaries have to make new applications for the monthly funds. The national agency explained it needs to make new verification updates on its system in order to continue paying individuals.

“The decision is based on lessons learned. There are things that did not work in the past that made the process frustrating for our people,” SASSA Chief Executive Officer Busisiwe Memela-Khambula said.

“We introduced the new payment system but still needed to find ways to improve it to make it more effective.

“We want people to know that they can now issue their bank accounts upfront but people can still choose to continue getting paid through the Post Office.
