BUSTED! SANDF finds R1.6 million worth of stolen vehicles in Mpumalanga

South African National Defence Force (SANDF) soldiers nabbed three stolen vehicles that cost an average of R500 000 each in Mpumalanga.

SANDF members made themselves proud this week after tracing three big-budget vehicles that were stolen in the northeast of Mzansi in Mpumalanga.

TOP-RANGE TOYOTA HILUX AND LEGEND RECOVERED

According to the report, the first automobile that was recovered was a white 2021 Toyota Hilux Legend 50 that is valued at R600 000, it was found in Steenbok.

“The vehicle was cornered next to Steenbok Village graveyard thereafter the driver, a 31-year-old male from Witbank, fled into a nearby house,” Arrive Alive said.

“The suspect was pointed out by members of the local community and then arrested by the South African Police Service. The suspect and vehicle were taken to Tonga Police Station.”

Later on the same day, a tracking company, together with an SANDF officer, caught an orange 2020 Toyota Legend 50, valued at R600 000.

“The stolen vehicle was intercepted deep in the bushes outside Dludluma Village as it was making its way towards the South Africa/Mozambique borderline.

“The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled into the surrounding bushes. The vehicle was handed over to Komatipoort South African Police Station.

SANDF MEMBERS FIND FORD RANGER

In the same Macadamia district, a gold 2017 Ford Ranger, valued at R 400 000, was recovered. The vehicle was caught in a road patrol while it was attempting to depart Mzansi to skip into the Mozambique border near the Dludluma Village.

“As the soldiers approached, the driver and co-driver fled the scene and abandoned the vehicle where it became stuck in a ditch. The vehicle was reportedly stolen in Rustenburg,” the report added.

Meanwhile, leading security company ADT made a list of seven high-risk cars for car jamming theft. The company warns motorists to be more vigilant after locking vehicles. Car jamming criminals use signal-blocking technology to prevent your vehicle from locking.
