The South African Satanic Church has expressed shock after murder accused Daniel Smit said he needed to kill in order to be freed of “evil spirits”. Smit allegedly butchered a 13-year-old boy in Klawer after human remains were found in his home.

Smit claimed he was previously involved with a cult in Sea Point who taught him how to kill and dispose of bodies. However, the church said anyone who claims they are practicing the occult and Satanism and therefore need to kill a human or animal are definitely not practicing the occult and Satanism.

SATANIC CHURCH WEIGHS IN ON KLAWER MURDER

The Satanic Church said it was shocked and appalled by the events that transpired in Klawer on the 2nd of February 2022.

In a joint statement, Reverend Riaan Swiegelaar and Adri Norton said a video had been brought to their attention in which the lawyer, Santie Human claims her client Daniel Smit committed the murder due to being a Satanist and practicing the occult.

In her statement Humans mentioned that the 2nd of February is a religious day for occult practitioners. Due to the 2nd of February 2022 having so many 2’s her client could no longer control himself and had to kill.

The satanic church said Satanism is a religion that focuses on celebrating life and making the most of one’s time on earth in a healthy and responsible way.

“To kill is not in alignment with Satanism as this is not respectful of life. Page 89 of the Satanic Bible written by Anton LaVey and the only text that has codified modern day Satanism, states that no Satanist shall kill an animal or child. As Satanists we also do not believe in the existence of evil spirits or ‘the devil’. Often ‘the devil’ in these claims is a reference to the Christian devil which Satanists do not believe exist.

“There is also no Satanic religious day, High Day or celebration that takes place on the 2nd of February. The only significant day in Satanism is your own birthday. To practice the occult and Satanism is to heal and enrich yourself as a human in a healthy way so that you can make the most of your life here on earth.”

Swiegelaar and Norton said information Smit brought forward regarding his involvement with the occult, cults and Satanism as Santie Human claimed are not in alignment with Satanism and the occult.

“In Satanism we believe that everyone is responsible for their own actions and should suffer the consequences of their actions. The South African Satanic Church hopes that justice prevails and that the murderer Daniel Smit suffers the full extent of the law,” they said.
