The Roast of Somizi was all the rage this week with the toned down version airing on Monday night and the full uncensored version available for download.
But, of course, Twitter was all over it as it all unfolded. For many, one of the highlights was Fikile Mbalula getting ripped apart.
The 80-minute show saw the audience react in all sorts of ways. Roasters included Gareth Cliff, Skhumba, Joanne Joseph, DJ Fresh, Nomzamo Mbatha, Kurt Darren, Ntsiki Mazwai, Mbaks and more.
To his credit, Mbaks took the roasting in good stride. Perhaps because there was a bit of poking fun at the EFF, too.
Here are a few bits of shade thrown at Mbalula. Roaster Skhumba was telling Mbaks to look at his colleagues in the EFF and how they are getting degrees left right and centre.
“Even Julius has a degree, we don’t know in what…we don’t care…” Skhumba said.
And how right he was…this was a Tweet sent on Monday.

The master roaster himself also had a pop at Mbaks, of course.
Mbaks knew what he was in for, though, before the show, he said:
“I am looking forward to taking part in the Roast. It promises to be an exciting razzmatazz experience. This will be a chance to showcase the greatness of our ability to get together as people of Mzansi to laugh and connect.”
Afterwards, Minister of Social Media, posted this clip of him where he admits that he was “nervous” at the beginning.
But Mbaks is ready for more. A few days before the show aired, he challenged Julius Malema to a roast.
What do you reckon Mzansi, does this need to happen? We’d pay good money for that…
