Several areas in Johannesburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni in Gauteng are set to be affected by an 87-hour shutdown due to planned maintenance by Rand Water.

The maintenance will start at 17:00 on Friday, 19 August and is expected to be completed by 08:30 on Tuesday, 23 August.

RAND WATER TO IMPLEMENT 87-HOUR SHUTDOWN

The potable water supplier which supplies Gauteng, Mpumalanga and North West amongst other provinces said the maintenance is for the newly constructed B6 pipeline which has been constructed to augment a portion of the already existing pipeline.

Just last week, Rand Water implemented a 53-hour shutdown which affected six municipalities in Gauteng.

Rand Water spokesperson, Judith Khoza said they have advised the City of Ekurhuleni, City of Tshwane, Johannesburg Water and its direct customers to allow them to execute their appropriate contingency plans.

“Rand Water has advised the municipalities and direct customers to fill their reservoirs before the maintenance work commences.”
