Kaizer Chiefs might have to resume their interest in Cape Town City player Mduduzi Mdantsane, who continues to impress in the PSL.
Mdantsane has now reached 100 appearances for Cape Town City ands remains a high-profile player linked with a big move at the end of the season.
Just the ninth player to have reached the milestone for the Cape Town team, he will next be in action on Tuesday, 14 March when City face Marumo Gallants.

Chiefs said ‘no’ once
He was subject of a massive transfer in the recent window with a move to Chiefs very close. In fact, it was a “done deal” until a late decision by Chiefs to withdraw the offer.
“The little that I know it was very, very close,” said City coach Eric Tinkler on Marawa Sports Worldwide as per iDiski Times.

“It was literally last minute that Kaizer Chiefs opted not to go through with the deal but I don’t know the exact details behind that.
“The player himself had already been informed, I knew about it myself. I knew about both [Kaizer Chiefs and Sekhukhune].”

Mdantsane continues to ignore the off-field noise and deliver on the pitch. In his last outing, he helped City come from behind to beat Maritzburg United 2-1 away from home recently.

Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane will be particularly impressed by his mentality.
Mdantsane was brought on by City coach Eric Tinkler with 30 minutes to play and his team trailing by a goal. But the Chiefs’ target wasted little time in helping getting his current teammates back in the game.
In fact, he had a goal within three minutes and assisted the winner five minutes later as he turned the game on its head.
If that’s not that kind of impact Chiefs are looking to invest in, then it could be even longer before they lift their next trophy.
The goal-scoring midfielder has been the star at Cape Town City for two seasons and even earned a national team call up due to his consistent performances.
The Cape franchise are likely to make a huge profit on the player who arrived in the Mother City on a free transfer after he left Baroka in 2020.
Mdantsane is also the Cape club’s leading scorer as he moved ahead of Fagrie Lakay, Surprise Ralani and Romeo Erasmus at the top of the charts.

Tinkler will allow Mdu to move
“I’ve been at Cape Town City right from the start, back in 2016 and we’ve always had a belief that we’ll never stand in the way of a footballer bettering his life,” Tinkler added.
“You don’t want to stand in the way of a player achieving greater things and securing obviously a future for himself after football.
“Fact of the matter is, those clubs Chiefs, Pirates, Sundowns, those are targets for the players to go. Those are big clubs that obviously can pay the players quite substantial amounts of money to sustain themselves.
“I’ll never stand in the way of that happening. Obviously, you don’t want to be losing some of your best players, but I’ve accepted that and I’ve always believed that there will be another Mdantsane out there that we can look to find.”
