The first PowerBall multimillionaire of the year bought the winning ticket with the FNB app. In 2022, 19 players won big after playing via their banks.

The first PowerBall winner for 2023 played via the FNB banking app, said national lottery operator Ithuba on Wednesday, 11 January.

The lucky winner opted for the quick pick option and walked away with winnings of R72 989 769.37 from draw number 1370 on Tuesday night.
Ituhuba pointed out that in November 2022, another FNB player also won over R74 million in the PowerBall PLUS game.
As previously reported, the winning numbers were: 08, 22, 27, 37, 50 and PB: 09.

Last year alone, ITHUBA has had 19 millionaires that have played from our different banking partners,” said Ithuba CEO, Charmaine Mabuza.
Players who win after playing via their banking apps are first contacted by their banks, who tell them to visit the nearest lottery office to process the winnings.
Winners are required to provide proof of identity along with their banking details and the winning ticket.
