Potholes leading to Kruger National Park were tackled by the Mpumalanga’s provincial government to restore safety on the tourism route

Potholes leading to one of Africa’s largest game reserves, Kruger National Park, were tackled by
Mpumalanga’s provincial government.
POTHOLES LEADING TO KRUGER TAKEN CARE OF
On Monday, 29 August, Mpumalanga Premier, Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane led a campaign called ValaZonkhe (close all) in Nkomazi, which seeks to fix potholes in the national, provincial and municipal roads.
A team of road engineers and employees from the Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport were part of the project led by the Premier and her MEC of the department.

“Today’s campaign is part of the Provincial Government’s target to fix all potholes in the Provincial and Municipal roads, including tourism routes.”

The Provincial government in Mpumalanga purchased four road patching machinery for this purpose.
According to the page, part of the equipment was dispatched to tourism routes between Hazyview and the Kruger National Park, while one of them will be used in Nkangala.
The Premier said they will make sure the machinery are taken and used at all regions of the province.
KZN MEC SABOTAGED BY HORRIBLE ROUTE
Meanwhile in KZN, former MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Neliswa Peggy Nkonyeni narrowly escaped death after she was involved in an accident in one of the most dangerous routes in KZN in June.

Nkonyeni was headed to the Dannhauser Local Municipality after concluding a fruitful meeting in uLundi, north of the province, with Premier of KZN Sihle Zikalala and His Majesty the King Misuzulu kaZwelithini when the vehicle transporting her burst a tyre and lost control on the R66.
Due to the ugliness of the R66, frequent users of the route blamed potholes for the accident.
Fortunately, MEC Nkonyeni fully recovered from the accident and has assumed a new leadership role following the ANC KZN elective conference recently.
