Two people were injured during an alleged attempted business robbery at a post office in Bluff Road on the Bluff on Wednesday morning.

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said that paramedics had arrived at the scene of the post office armed robbery just after 9am.

“ALS Paramedics Medical Services arrived on the scene at the post office to find that two people had sustained minor to moderate injuries after an alleged attempted robbery,” he said.

ALS did not reveal the nature of the injuries that the two patients had sustained at the scene of the crime.

“Both patients were stabilised on the scene before being transported to a nearby Durban hospital for the further treatment that they required,” he said.

Jamieson said that the events leading up to the incident were unknown. However, he said the SAPS had attended the scene of the crime and would be investigating further.

SAPS spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said that the police were investigating the robbery.

“A case of business robbery is being investigated by Brighton Beach SAPS,” she said.

“It is alleged that today at 09:00, four armed men entered the post office situated on Bluff Road. They could not get any cash and they took a cellphone and fled the scene in a getaway vehicle,” Gwala said.

“No shots were fired. The matter is still under investigation,” she said.

Meanwhile the SAPS Durban Central Detectives Unit has asked the public for help to solve a case of theft.

“The detectives are of the view that the men in the attached picture can assist them in solving the case,” Gwala said.

Jewellery robbery under investigation

“It is alleged that on 20 October 2021 at about 10:45, the complainant was at her flat on Margaret Mcadi when a lady informed her about people who were doing pest control duties. The lady insisted that all rooms must be sprayed. One man started spraying all the rooms including the bedroom, while one was busy talking to her in the lounge,” Gwala said.

“Later that day the complainant noticed that her jewellery which was kept in her dressing table was stolen. Police believe men in the attached picture can be of an assistance in solving the case,” she said.

Anyone with information that will assist police to find the men in photograph is requested to contact the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Sithole on 031 325 4065/078 314 3577 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
