Port Alfred woman MAULED to death by dogs on Sunday

Police said the 37-year-old woman was mauled to death on Sunday by dogs (breed UNKNOWN) while on her way to work in Port Alfred.

A 37-year-old woman was mauled to death on Sunday morning by dogs while on her way to work in Port Alfred.

THE WOMAN WAS ATTACKED IN PORT ALFRED ON SUNDAY

According to a police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu, the incident happened at about 07:45 on Sunday.

“The woman was walking on Alfred Road when she was attacked. Two men who witnessed the attack ran to a nearby security official and reported the incident.

“The security official contacted the police however when police arrived, the badly injured woman was lying on the side of the road.”

THE WOMAN SUSTAINED SERIOUS INJURIES TO HER FACE AND UPPER BODY

Naidu said the woman sustained serious injuries to her face and upper body.

The dogs were nowhere to be found. The woman died prior to receiving any medical attention.

THE BREED OF THE DOGS ARE UNKNOWN AT THIS STAGE

An inquest docket is opened for investigation.

“SAPS Port Alfred detectives are searching for the owner of the dogs. The number and breed of the dogs are unknown at this stage and police believe that the two men who witnessed the incident can provide crucial information in the investigation.”
