Police in KwaZulu-Natal have arrested five suspects in connection to the 2019 murder of two brothers, Mthoko and Sandile Ndimande, aged 22 and 29, respectively. The Ndimande brothers were kidnapped from their home in the Mkhizwana area and found dead the next day.

SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR NDIMANDE MURDER

Mthoko and Sandile Ndimande were allegedly kidnapped from their home, which was under the jurisdiction of the Umsunduzi policing precinct, on 28 August 2019 at approximately 22:00, according to South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele.

“Their bodies were found the following day with gunshot wounds on the body at Mngcweni area in Umsunduzi,” said Mbele.

A murder docket was opened at Umsunduzi police station. Last month, two suspects – aged 31 and 37 – were taken into custody on murder charges. The pair appeared before the Camperdown Magistrate’s Court  and were remanded in custody. “The matter was adjourned to 12 July 2021,” said Mbele.

POLITICAL TASK TEAM DETECTIVES ARREST MORE SUSPECTS

Police detectives attached to the Political Task Team arrested Cebo Gwala (27), Zisholo Shozi (36) and Khona Buthelezi (38). The trio also appeared before the Camperdown Court and were remanded in custody. Their next appearance is on 17 July 2021.

The Political Task Team previously circulated images of the suspects and asked the community for help in tracking down the trio on 1 June. “A reward of up to R10 000 is offered to anyone who might have information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the wanted suspects,” said Mbele, at the time.
