South African Police Service (SAPS) members suffered humiliation after suspects robbed police of firearms, mobile phones, and a laptop in Cape Town on Saturday.

POLICE ROBBED GUNS AND PHONES

The embarrassing incident happened at a satellite police station in Sir Lowry’s Pass late on Saturday. The suspects left the scene with two pistols, three cellphones, and a laptop computer.

“The Hawks have launched a manhunt for three suspects who were responsible for a robbery at Sir Lowry’s Pass satellite police station last night,” Colonel Andrè Traut said.

“At around 21:00 the suspects who were armed approached two members who were on duty in the community service centre and held them at gunpoint.”

POLICE ASK FOR ASSISTANCE TO NAB SUSPECTS

With one too many police offices getting killed in Mzansi, the nation and the families of the Sir Lowry’s Pass officers have taken a sigh of relief after the incident happened without any shootings.

Meanwhile, the police have urged the public to make contact on Crime Stop for any information that may help to catch the suspects.

“They disarmed the police members and fled with two 9mm service pistols, three cellular telephones, and a laptop computer. The members were fortunately not injured during the incident.

“Any person who can shed light on the circumstances of the matter, or who can assist police to trace the suspects is kindly requested to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111,” Traut concluded.

The mugging awkwardly followed after Police Minister Bheki Cele had been in the city to launch the Safer Festive Season and Country in Blue campaign.

In other police robbery news, two officers from Soweto savagely lost their lives. The cops were shot dead in what was a brutal disarming of their service guns at the Jabulani Hostel. One officer died on the scene, while his companion later died as he arrived at the hospital for treatment.
