Police officer kills wife and brothers after heated marriage argument

A Hazeyview Police service officer was arrested for killing his wife and her brothers as they were trying to resolve their marital issues.

A Hazyview South African Police Services (SAPS) officer has allegedly killed his wife and her two brothers on Sunday 30 April.

Police officer shot wife and her siblings

A police officer allegedly shot and killed his wife and her two brothers after a heated conversation at their house in KaMajika near Hazyview.

According to The Citizen, the suspect has handed himself in at the Hazyview Police Station, where he remains in custody.

A close family member told the police that the tragic incident occurred at the couple’s house at around 08:30 on Sunday.

The two siblings had a conversation trying to assist the police officer and his wife to resolve their marital issues.

Heated argument ends bad

It is alleged that the policeman stormed out of the family meeting and returned with a firearm.

“The police officer was not happy with some of the responses and he stormed out of the meeting and went to his room, only to come back with a gun. He shot his wife and the two men. They were certified dead on the scene,” said the family member.

The matter of the police officer was referred to the provincial Hawks for investigation.

The spokesperson for the Mpumalanga Hawks, Captain Dineo Sekgotodi, said she is gathering additional information before she can comment on the incident.

There is a spike in the number of police officers taking the law into their own hands in South Africa in recent months.
