Pistorius’ sister told News24 that Reeva had a beautiful personality, adding that she was happy that Judge Masipa recognised that her brother had shot and killed Steenkamp accidentally; saying it’s “unfortunate” that some people assumed her brother intended to kill Reeva.

“It’s a terrible accident where Oscar had no intention of shooting Reeva… A lot of hurt has been created and on top of that, there is already in this tragedy, that there’s this lie being perpetuated that there was violence that there was an argument and that there was intention to shoot Reeva, which is not true and there hasn’t been anything to support that,” she said.

Judge Thokozile Masipa sentenced Pistorius to six years in prison, less than half of the maximum 15 years, saying that Pistorius had acted out of fear when he shot Reeva.
