A pedestrian died in hospital after he was struck by a light motor vehicle on Tuesday on Malibongwe Road in Dunoon in the Western Cape.
ER24 paramedics and the Milnerton Fire Services arrived at 15h37 to find the man in his 30s lying in the middle of the road.
“The car that struck the man was parked a few metres away.”
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said.
The man was assessed by medics and found in a critical condition, having sustained numerous injuries.
Meiring said the man was treated and provided with advanced life support before being transported to Groote Schuur Hospital for urgent care.
“Unfortunately, after some time in hospital, the man succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead.”
Meiring said.
In a separate incident on Tuesday morning, a man in his 40s was left critically injured after being struck by a taxi on Koeburg Road in Milnerton, Western Cape.
ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene around 07:20 to find the Milnerton Fire Services already in attendance.
“On closer inspection, medics found a man in the middle of the road. The taxi that had struck the man was parked on the side of the road.”
Meiring said.
Medics assessed the man and found that he had sustained a serious head injury, leaving him in a critical condition.
The man was treated and provided with life support before being transported to Groote Schuur Hospital for urgent care.
Meiring said the driver of the taxi, fortunately, escaped injury.
Local authorities were on both accident scenes for further investigations.
