Parts of SOWETO to experience NO WATER TOMORROW

The reason for the interruption is repairing a leak on the inlet pipe to the Zondi Tower situated in Soweto, south of Johannesburg.

Johannesburg Water has announced today, Wednesday, 23 August that parts of Soweto will experience poor pressure to no water tomorrow, Thursday, 24 August.

THE DURATION OF THE WATER OUTAGE IN SOWETO

According to Johannesburg Water, this is an unplanned water shutdown which takes place from 7am to 5pm.

The areas in Soweto affected include:

  • Dobsonville extension 3;
  • Zondi next to the Zondi Reservoir;
  • small portion of old Dobsonville

The reason for the interruption is repairing a leak on the inlet pipe to the Zondi Tower.

Johannesburg Water indicated that water tankers will be provided if the planned work exceeds the stipulated time.

WATER TOWERS EXPERIENCES PROBLEMS LATELY

Speaking of tower problems, the entity also reported about a burst pipe in Augustus Street, South Hills, which is on the supply line from the South Hills tower.

According to the entity, the water has been isolated (closed) in order for repairs to be conducted. “Customers in the tower zone (South Hills) will be impacted by low pressure to no water during the repairs. The estimated time for completion is 23:00,” said Johannesburg Water.

In addition, late yesterday, the South Hills tower experienced loss of water supply. However, technical teams were dispatched to investigate the cause. Water levels were critically low and residents in higher lying areas were warned that they may experience low pressure to no water.
