Gauteng’s Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi has denounced a violent incident involving two male pupils at Parktown Boys High School. The secondary learning institution just can’t seem to stay off this news – this time, a learner at the school is seen wildly attacking a fellow pupil, by the tuckshop area.
This is alleged to have occurred on Thursday afternoon, 8 April 2021.
In a short statement, Lesufi said both the learners have been suspended.
“Disturbing video footage of the alleged incident shows one learner violently attacking another learner before being stopped by a group of learners. This video has since gone viral while the learners involved in the altercation have, subsequently, been suspended,” Department spokesperson Steve Mabona said.
Panyaza Lesufi has condemned what he has described as the ill-discipline shown by the learners at Parktown Boys High and has urged all pupils not to behave in a manner that will jeopardize their future.
“We do not tolerate any sort of violent behaviour in our schools. Learners must focus on their studies and if a matter arises which bothers them; they must consult with their educators or principals about it – instead of taking matters into their own hands”

At this point, it remains unclear what led to the boy attacking a fellow student. The education department has not given clarity on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
