Boitumelo Radiopane has long been a player that has excited Pirates fans since his days banging in goals for the club’s DStv Diski Challenge. That is precisely the reason why he ended up being promoted to the senior side, but much to the dismay of the Buccaneers faithful, he only ended up playing a handful of games for the senior side. There was then hope that, this season was the season he would have the opportunity of an official breakthrough.

Again, that proved to not be the case, with Radiopane being shipped off on loan to Cape Town Spurs instead. That loan move seems to have turned out to be a lucky charm for the striker, as he has matured and blossomed as a player in ‘mens’ football. In fact, he has made such an impact in Shaun Bartlett’s side that they want to keep him at the club for at least another season from Pirates.

But according to a source speaking to The Citizen, the Pirates will not allow Radiopane to go anywhere next season, not even Cape Town Spurs.

Pirates to keep Radiopane

“It’s not really a surprise that they want to keep him for longer. He has done really well for them and scored some crucial goals this season. It’s going to be a very important season for them, and they want to have someone like Radiopane to be there and help them to be competent in the PSL (DStv Premiership) if they get promoted,”. Said the source.

The source went on to explain why Pirates would like the player to form part of their squad next season.

Depth very important for Bucs

“It’s a tricky situation because Pirates technical team is happy with his progress. The club is going to play in Caf next season, and they need all the depth they can have in their squad. Especially someone who has done well like him (Radiopane). But there are still a lot of things that are going to happen at the club (Pirates) when the season ends. Some guys are coming to the end of their contracts and will be leaving the team, while there will also be new arrivals at the club. So, we will see how things will unfold once the season is done.” Said the source.
