Mmusi Maimane’s One South Africa Movement has wished the nation a ‘merry and blessed Christmas’.

Mudzuli Rakhivhane, OSA National Spokesperson, shared the movement’s message to the nation. In the statement, One SA highlighted the hope that the festive season brings with it.

Christmas marks a sacred time of celebration in the Christian faith. It is a celebration of hope for a better world, and a time of generosity, neighbourly love and family.”

Opportunity for reflection

Following a difficult year amid the continued battle against the COVID-19 pandemic, Rakhivhane called for the nation to be at peace and reflect.

“I would like to wish all South Africans a time of peace and reflection. May this holiday be an opportunity to rest and look to the New Year for prosperity.”

The spokesperson wants citizens to contemplate the true meaning of Christmas this year.

“The true meaning of Christmas remains that of sacrifice for fellow man, and a united and shared future where every person’s dignity and inherent worth is defended and upheld – regardless of race, culture, nationality or gender.”

Christmas a time to bring hope to SA

Rakhivhane encouraged South Africans to ensure the holidays are a festive time for those with little to celebrate.

“As we come together to do good in our communities this festive season, let our thoughts be with those for whom Christmas may not be a time of celebration. As activists, let us put love into action by caring for those without.”

Concluding his statement, Rakhivhane says SA must actively chose hope and unity moving into the New Year.

“Let us choose hope over fear as we continue to build One South Africa now and into the New Year.”
