1972 | South Africa signs a multilateral treaty that prohibits the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxic Weapons.

1993 | Chris Hani was assassinated by Clive Derby-Lewis and Janusz Walus when he was on his way home in Dawn Park, Boksburg, Johannesburg.

2017 | A state of emergency declared in Egypt by President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi after 44 people were killed when two Coptic churches were attacked.
