1915 | Imperial German Forces forced to unconditional surrender by Union of South Africa Forces during World War I

1939 | Date set for start of Passive Resistance Campaign in response to the South African governments repressive against anti-Indian legislation.

1987 | Mozambique and Soviet Union reject the Margo Commission’s finding.

1995 | Former state President and Deputy President of the Government of National Unity, F.W. de Klerk, implicated in knowing and condoning a ‘dirty tricks’ campaign that was waged against the ANC between 1990 and the 1994 election in a bid to destabilise the organisation.

2000 | Harare police fired tear gas at unruly fans during a World Cup qualifying soccer game between Zimbabwe and South Africa, setting off a stampede that killed twelve people.
