1993 | The African National Congress (ANC) National Executive Committee (NEC) presented five demands to be implemented in the year to facilitate the first democratic elections in South Africa.

2021 | Sriwijaya Air Flight 182 crashed north of Jakarta, Indonesia, killing all 62 people on board.

2007 | Apple CEO Steve Jobs introduced the original iPhone at the Macworld keynote in San Francisco.

2005 | The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement and the Government of Sudan signed a Peace Agreement to End the Second Civil War in Sudan.

2004 | An inflatable boat transporting illegal Albanian immigrants near the Karaburun Peninsula to Brindisi, Italy;  exposure to natural elements killed 28 people. This was the second-worst maritime disaster in the history of Albania.
